In March of 2018, Elizabeth called to inquire about volunteer opportunities. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer and found out about Editha House through her treatment center.
She shared our information with her daughter because Elizabeth was seeking volunteer opportunities as part of her Miss Tempe 2018 duties. Each contestant is required to choose a charitable cause as their area of impact, and serve in that area during their appointment, if they win.
Due to her mother’s diagnosis, Elizabeth chose women’s cancer services as her pageant platform and after touring our Home, she chose to help Editha House. She brought friends to help bake treats and donated snack baskets, so guests could grab a snack on their way to doctor’s appointments.
Prior to joining the pageantry circuit, Elizabeth’s father had passed, and she was seeking a change in her life that would help her cope with such a big loss. The pageant community helped her stay focused and gave her much-needed support.
In addition to volunteering at Editha House, Elizabeth decided to put together a beautiful basket with body-care and beauty items to raffle off in support of Editha House. She sold tickets to friends and supporters and brought in $1,000 that was donated to our Name a Room Campaign.
We named Room 104 in honor of Miss Tempe 2018 and her supporters! We are so proud and grateful to Elizabeth for her hard work and commitment to Editha House.
Elizabeth recently graduated from Arizona State University, joined the Miss USA Pageant and enjoys adventures with her family.
We wish her the best of luck in all of her future endeavors.
